Guiding Young Hearts to Healing

The Camp Dallas mission is to guide young hearts to healing through the power of nature. We embrace the outdoors as a catalyst for mental wellness, nurturing resilience and hope in every youth we serve. Mental health is a fundamental aspect of overall health, and everyone deserves access to resources and opportunities for self-care and growth.

In 2007, Camp Dallas founders Dwayne and Patty Atherton lost their son, Dallas, to suicide. He was 19 years old.

They have since been on a mission to bring awareness to mental health, to create an outdoor space for youth and young adults to find peace and play, and to offer experiences that will guide all involved toward a much brighter future.

With compassion and inclusivity, Camp Dallas fosters a community that values and supports mental health through nature.

Using evidence-based practices, we strive to break down barriers and stigma surrounding mental illness while offering tools, resources and activities to nurture mental wellness through the great outdoors.

How We Play

From outdoor adventure and exploration to fish science and environmental education, Camp Dallas offers a wide range of outdoor activities and nature-centric programming. We invite campers to connect with nature while developing a deeper love for outdoor play and stewardship, and our team offers community support, resources and referrals for those in need.
